According to the Government of Jamaica (Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Identity), Indian citizens do not require a Jamaican visa to enter the country of Jamaica. This is because Indian subcontinent falls under the category of Commonwealth nations. Due to this, the immigration officer will simply stamp the passport of an Indian upon arrival. This stamp will then act as a valid tourist visa for the duration of the individual’s stay. However, one must ensure that their passport is valid for more than 6 months after the date of entry in Jamaica and that there are sufficient blank pages left.
Individuals traveling to Jamaica must procure a visa from one of the Jamaican diplomatic missions, or in some cases from one of the United Kingdom diplomatic missions. However, the aforementioned point does not hold true for individuals who come from one of the 116 countries that are designated as visa-exempt countries or countries whose citizens may obtain a visa on arrival. As such, Commonwealth Citizens can visit Jamaica for up to 180 days visa-free.
To reiterate, Indian citizens do not need a Jamaican visa when travelling to Jamaica.
All those travelling to Jamaica must have a valid and approved travel document that acts as evidence of their identity and nationality. The most effective and preferred travel document is a passport. However, other types of travel documents may also be accepted. Passports and/or passport substitute documents should also be valid for the intended period of stay. Furthermore, the individual will need to have proof of their funds to cover the stay as well documents for the next destination. A return/onward ticket will also be required to be presented. Since, there is no direct flight from India to Jamaica, individuals will have to board connecting flights and will require a visa for their stopover location. The travel documents must be issued by a recognised authority, must have a photograph of the bearer and provide the holder with authority of re-entry to the country of issue or any authority to another country.
