Thailand is a favourite among travellers and for good reasons. There’s so much to see here and do that you’ll need more than one trip to experience all the delights that the country has to offer. Despite being such a tourist friendly country, with literally millions of foreign tourists flying in every year, Thailand is still rural in large pockets, and villages juxtapose with big cities easily. Herein lies its charm. Cosmopolitan in outlook and yet homely at heart – this is what makes Thailand special.

There’s something for everyone here. Tourists who want to enjoy the beauty of its calm beaches, or those who have come here to sample some of the rich and eclectic Thai culture, or those who want to taste authentic Thai food. Thailand welcomes everyone with a smile and their traditional greeting “Sawasdee”.

Thailand Geography

Thailand is located in Southeast Asia, and is divided into six regions – East, West, North, Northeast, Central, and South. Each region has something marvellous to offer, especially if you’re looking to experience the best of Thailand Tourism.

The North is known for its majestic mountain ranges and nature trails while the Northeast is famous for its Thai Jasmine Rice that is grown here. Central Thailand is known for its farming and agriculture but what stands out is the historical Chao Phraya River which runs through here. Thailand’s capital, Bangkok lies here with its numerous attractions and shopping centres.

To the South of Thailand, there are beautiful beaches thronged by tourists. Phuket and Koh Samui fall here whereas Eastern Thailand has some stunning sights on offer such as Pattaya and Koh Samet. Towards the West, there are mountains, waterfalls and dams and also national parks such as the Thong Pha Phum National Park.

Thailand Climate

Thailand typically has three seasons – hot, wet and cool. Make sure you check the weather before you travel as there are some places that are better in certain seasons.

Nevertheless, with its tropical climate, Thailand tends to stay hot from March to May. If you don’t like the heat, then the best time to visit Thailand is during the cool season which is from November to February and far more comfortable for travel. The rainy season lasts from June to October.

It does tend to be quite humid in Thailand in most places, so come prepared with cool and light clothes. If you’re planning to beach hop, then make sure you’re carrying sun screen with you.

No doubt, the popular months for tourists visiting Thailand would be during its cool months as the weather is perfect to check out the beaches.

Thai Culture

Thailand is known as the ‘Land of a Thousand Smiles’ and Buddhism has a significant influence on Thai culture. There is a strong sense of national and cultural identity here. It’s evident everywhere, be it in the temples or the numerous religious festivals that are celebrated with fervour.

While the ethnic Thai people form a huge part of this culture, Thailand is also a melting pot of several other cultures, imbibing generously from the nearby countries of China, India and Myanmar to create something uniquely unforgettable.

An important aspect of Thai culture would include their food and it’s a must to experience it while in the country to have a complete experience of Thailand Tourism. Sticky rice, fresh seafood and spicy curries are some of the delectable culinary delights that are on offer for tourists who want to experience the best of Thai culture.
