How many days in advance can I make a purchase of foreign exchange?
According to RBI, you can buy foreign exchange or forex up to a maximum of 60 days before you travel.
Can I keep the unspent foreign exchange with me upon my return to India?
You can keep the foreign exchange worth up to USD 2000 in the form of a traveler’s cheque or foreign currency notes for future use. However, anything more than this should be given within 180 days of your return to India.
