Isn’t that amazing?

Peak Travel Season

Jamaica’s peak season begins in mid-December and continues right until mid-April.  If you don’t mind the large crowds, this is the best time to go to Jamaica. This period coincides with the season of winter and is the dry season. Hence, the climate is cooler and even chilly at times due to north winds beginning to blow in. However, these very winds tend to drive away the rain clouds. The country witnesses an influx of tourists from the world over, coming to take advantage of the natural beauty, history and culture. As such, we would recommend you make your bookings at least 3 months in advance, to avoid last minute hassles of no availability. Note – January and February are the coldest months, according to Jamaica’s scale of cold.

Precipitation in Jamaica

Jamaica’s wet period extends from the month of May to end November. During this time, the island experiences two rainy seasons, one from May to June and the other from September to November. As is typical of the tropical countries, the north-east winds have a direct impact on Jamaica’s rainfall. This is true especially in the case of September and November, when the north coast witnesses an increase in rain. The south coast is protected from these winds by the Blue Mountains. The mountainous region in the centre receives the heaviest rainfall, due to its elevation. As such, it is the greenest and lushest region at this time and a spectacular sight to behold! So, if you’re a nature buff, this might be the best time to visit Jamaica. Note – probability of hurricane is highest between June and November, usually peaking by October and November.

Summer in Jamaica

The season of summers occurs from the month of June right up to the month of August. This period is characterised by significantly warmer temperatures with a slight increase in rainfall too. July is drier than June, but just as hot. August continues with summer tendencies, with rainfall being less and winds being calmer. What’s more, the water of the Caribbean Sea warms up to approximately 30 °C – apt for beach adventures. As low tourist season, you will experience fewer crowds on the beaches, resorts as well as restaurants! To add to that, you will also often discover luxurious accommodation at lower, more affordable rates. Hence, we’d say that if relaxation and self-indulgence is what you’re seeking, this is the best time to go to Jamaica!
