Best Time to Visit North East

The true beauty of the seven sister states of North East can only be understood when visited. Surrounded by the hills, tea plantation and some of the best flora and fauna, a North East holiday tour should be on every holidaymaker's bucket list. Each state has something to unique to offer, be it monasteries of Arunachal Pradesh or the wildlife reserves in Assam, the Living Roots Bridges of Meghalaya or the trekking trails of Sikkim.

If you are planning a North East trip, the best time to visit is between the months of November to April. Though you can plan a trip throughout the year, you need to keep in mind that monsoons are extreme and humidity is high. Weather conditions in Assam are divided into cold and rainy. A trip between October to February would suit you best as it rains for the rest of the year. If your itinerary has a visit to Kaziranga Reserve, you should plan a trip in summer.

However, in Arunachal Pradesh areas of lower altitude is generally warm and humid since they are surrounded by thick forests. Winters are the best time to visit Arunachal as well as Tripura, as the temperature varies from 15-21 degrees, creating a perfect weather for your trip. The Land of the Clouds, Meghalaya and Nagaland has rains throughout the year but don’t let that dampen your spirits as you will be surrounded by greenery.

With cool summers and pleasant winters, Mizoram is best when visited during the months of May to September, whereas summers are ideal for a holiday to Sikkim.
