Located in the state of Assam, the 430-sq-km Kaziranga National Park sits in the mighty Brahmaputra’s flood plains. The park’s mixed topography is made up of lakes, streams, wetlands and grasslands. Kaziranga also features alluvial savannah woodlands, tropical semi evergreen forests, tropical moist mixed deciduous forests and tall elephant grass.
Kaziranga’s tropical climate makes for hot and humid summers, mild winters and heavy monsoons. Winter is the best time to experience Kaziranga tourism. The weather is pleasant with temperatures ranging between 5 °C – 25 °C.
Summer is not the best time for a Kaziranga tour as temperatures can reach up to 37 °C, and animals retreat to the forests. Monsoon brings in torrential rains that causes floods and drives the animals to migrate to the interiors.
