One of the top places to visit in Hong Kong if you want to get some good shopping done is Causeway Bay. This vibrant and fascinating district is crowded with some amazing shopping malls but there are other attractions here as well. While there are several top-notch malls here, Jardine’s Crescent Street Market is the place to be if you want to do some inexpensive shopping for trendy clothes and accessories. The Happy Valley Racecourse is a popular destination for those who enjoy gambling on horse races while the Hong Kong Stadium is a great place to watch rugby, football or music concerts.

Kowloon is an amalgamation of several Hong Kong elements. There are the glitzy buildings here but there’s a certain old school charm too, although chances are that you will be so absorbed by taking in everything, you wouldn’t notice. One of the top Hong Kong tourist places is The Avenue of Stars, a glittering promenade along the waterfront. Modelled after the Hollywood Walk of Fame, this has around 100 plaques that have the handprints and autographs of celebrities.

Just keep walking and you will come across some film-inspired sculptures which you can pose with. And if you’re there around 8:00 pm, you can stand back and be amazed by the Symphony of Lights. It is the world’s largest permanent light and sound show that showcases the night skyline of Hong Kong with coloured lights and laser beams that create a stunning spectacle. Kowloon is also an excellent place to do some shopping at the Temple Street Night Market or you can head to Jade Market to pick up some jade pieces.

Despite its hip and urban vibe with its soaring skyscrapers and shopping malls, Central is still Cantonese at heart and there are neon-lit signs in Chinese that affirm this. Central is truly one of the top Hong Kong tourist places for the number of amazing options it has. The buildings here tower over, each competing with the other to reach the skies, whether it is the IFC (International Finance Centre) or the HSBC and Bank of China buildings. But Central is also where you need to come if you want to visit Victoria Peak with its excellent views of Kowloon which is on the other side, along with Harbour Bay and Hong Kong.

The Peak as it is known is one of the top-most tourist attractions in Hong Kong for the views, the 3D trick eye art gallery and Madame Tussauds wax works. If you’re looking for some exciting nightlife, Lan Kwai Fong with its numerous bars and clubs is an excellent place to visit. However, to truly get a sense of Hong Kong, you must take the Star Ferry to crossover to Kowloon. This five-minute journey is an experience in itself and is certainly one of the exciting places to visit in Hong Kong.

One of the places to visit in Hong Kong is Wan Chai especially if you want a taste of traditional history and culture. There are numerous attractions here as well especially some of Hong Kong’s most well-known iconic landmarks. Hong Kong’s symbol, the bauhinia flower is represented here in gold, in the Golden Bauhinia Square and this golden sculpture looks best at night. Another place that you must see is the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, a domed building made with glass and steel, which can be seen from anywhere on the waterfront.   Yet another vibrant street market here is the Tai Yuen Street Market that sells cheap souvenirs and other knickknacks.

This lush green island is one of Hong Kong’s largest islands and also most well-known tourist spots. While not as extensively and beautifully connected like Hong Kong, Lantau has its share of wonders. The Po Lin Monastery with the three big golden Buddha statues is certainly a top attraction along with the Ngong Ping 360 cable car. Of course, a visit to Hong Kong would be incomplete without going to Hong Kong Disneyland, the theme park that every child wants to visit. Pamper the child in your and go ahead and check it out. Spend the day visiting the different ‘lands’ and stay till 8pm for the amazing fireworks.
