Head over to Meteora for some mind-boggling sights. It is built on the peaks of sandstone pillars that were formed millions of years ago. These monasteries that were built during the Middle ages offer brilliant views of the landscape. The town of Kalabaka, which sits at the foot of these peaks, is a good base camp for those who want to make the climb. Six monasteries are still occupied by clergy. This may not be a typical tourist place to visit in Greece but the stunning vistas it offers makes a visit all the more memorable.
