If you are looking for places to visit in Bhopal, don’t miss out on Raisen Fort which sits on top of a hill, looking out over a water reservoir. There are some palaces and temples within the fort complex and a visit here makes an excellent day trip. The 800-year-old fort also has a shrine dedicated to a Muslim saint. While today the fort is in deep decay, there are still glimpses of the magnificence that was there before. The fort has four palaces inside and a Shiva temple which opens its doors every year on Shivratri.
