The National Gallery of Modern Art is simply splendid. Housed in the erstwhile mansion of the raja of Mysore, this is indeed a world-class museum that can be appreciated for the art it contains as well as its own aesthetic appeal and is undoubtedly one of the top Bangalore sightseeing spots in the city. The water feature at the entrance is stunning but inside, there are many treasures, each better than the last. The Old Wing has pre-Independence works including paintings by Raja Ravi Verma while the New Wing has contemporary post-Independence works by artists such as Vivan Sundaram and Sudhir Patwardhan. If you want to know the museum’s works better, then opt for the guided tours.
