It is celebrated in the 7th month of the Islamic lunar calendar, and dates back 800 years. Urs Festival commemorates the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti on his death anniversary. The festivities go on for six days and the tomb of the saint is washed with rosewater and anointed with sandalwood paste. Qawwalis are sung to the Almighty, and kheer (rice pudding) is prepared and served to the devotees. People from all over the country come to celebrate Urs.
