Currency in Germany

When you set on your Germany trip, remember that cash is king. Nearly 80% of payments are made in cash in the country and thus, you must carry adequate cash with you. The official currency in Germany is the Euro and you can get your Rupees exchanged in ATMs as it is the fastest, easiest and cheapest way to exchange there. Before you travel, make sure you get a card that doesn’t charge an international ATM fee.

You can also use traveller’s cheques in Germany, though the smaller stores and restaurants might prefer cash. You can also carry your credit card as Visa and MasterCard are accepted in most modern cities and upmarket restaurants. In the smaller towns, make sure you also have cash if they refuse to take cards. Try and avoid using credit cards to withdraw money from ATMs as the charges might take up your credit quickly.
