Best time to Visit Ladakh

A land like no other with an abundance of attractions and phantasmagoric landscapes, amazing people and culture, Ladakh is truly heavenly. Bound by two of the world's mightiest mountain ranges, the Himalayas and the Karakoram, it lies between two other, the Ladakh range and the Zanskar range. Ladakh is mystical in all the spheres it covers, from nature, geography, sceneries to the modest cultures that it fosters. Right from gompas to the sensational momos, the land is blissfully magical.

  1. By early June, all the road routes to Leh open up and you can travel on the Srinagar-Leh-Manali circuit.  If you wish to see snow-covered roads and mountains en route this is the time to visit Leh Ladakh.
  2. By mid-June, the snow starts melting and festivals like the Saka Dawa, Yuru Kabgyat and Hemis Festivals are held. It is a good time for the much-awaited Ladakh trip. When there aren’t many places to travel in India during this time due to the monsoon that is the best time to visit Ladakh! The months of July and August see a maximum inflow of travellers. By this time, all passes and roads are opened and the land is beautiful, a paradise for bikers and photographers.
  3. September offers a pleasant stay as well as better road conditions than during the monsoons. The peak season of June to August is over and travel gets cheaper.
  4. The months from October to March are the peak of winters, severe and biting with sub-zero temperatures. Most of the tourists are gone. Only the winter sports lovers make it here to indulge in skiing, snowboarding or winter frozen river treks. Most of the passes and road routes are closed due to heavy snowing; flying is the only option to get there.
